I’m not the expert in your life; that’s you

You are the expert in your life and in your experiences. I am here to listen to you with compassion, attune to your needs without judgement, and support you with insights and appropriate individualised techniques.  

There are many misconceptions around exactly what a mental health counsellor does. And there are so many terms floating around—I am also a psychotherapist, wellness coach, mindfulness meditation teacher, yoga instructor, and I hold certificates in a variety of therapeutic techniques. Ultimately it just means I can pick and choose from all of these various tools to help you, depending on what you need and what works in your unique situation.

How I work

I’m here to support you and be your safe place - to attune to what you need and walk with you through that change and into a joyful future.  

First of all, you don’t need to lie on a couch or sit cross-legged and chant (though you are welcome to if you like!). What we do isn’t necessarily spiritual, however it is holistic and integrated. The work we do together is always based on scientific, evidence-based approaches with a focus on what will be achievable and sustainable for you. At the core of our work is the therapeutic relationship. This supports a safe space where you can be seen and heard, which is the basis for healing and change. I will meet you with genuine compassion and warmth, along with effective techniques to build insight, self-awareness and growth.  

I use my many different skill-sets to create a tailored therapeutic approach for you, to address your challenges, goals, and needs. By offering this range of expertise and flexible mindset, we’re not locked into one pathway or overly focused on diagnostics or fixing you (you are not broken; your wholeness may just be a little hidden from your sight). A little about me 

I made a big shift in my own life when I left my high-pressure, corporate finance role of over two decades to start my own business—helping others to live fuller, more meaningful lives. I have experienced extreme stress, burn out, and overwhelm. I know what it feels like to juggle work, parenting, grief, loss, and terminal and chronic illnesses. These personal experiences mean I understand and relate to my clients on a deep and personal level. I will support you by listening, understanding, and working collaboratively to uncover what is needed for you, at this time, in your situation, and with your life experience.

Professional accreditations 

There are a lot of counsellors and ‘coaches’ online, and finding a highly qualified practitioner who maintains professional development and standards can be challenging and overwhelming. I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA). I am also a registered Meditation and Yoga Teacher. As a life long learner passionate about helping people improve their mental wellbeing I am always studying, whether its completing my Masters in Counselling & Psychotherapy or ongoing professional development with particular relevance to the clients I work with.

Fun fact: Before retraining as a counsellor I held a Bachelor of Economics and was a Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA), working in Corporate Finance teams for many years. This experience has been incredibly relevant in working with the corporate women and men clients I support. My personal lived experience of managing stress, overwhelm, anxiety and burnout, and exploring purpose, navigating losses, and working through career and life transitions allows me a deep appreciation and understand of my client’s struggles. I get the pressures, the expectations, and the culture they are working in.
